Eva Markham

Singer - Songwriter - Performer - Musician - Recording Artist

About

More than a singer-songwriter, Eva Markham is a relentlessly clever poet, a masterful vocalist, and a spell-caster. Sowing unassuming guitar parts beneath her soaring and soulful vocals, Eva weaves the metaphysical into what is seemingly mundane–coffee grounds and ants and trains and rivers, and rivers, and rivers, always rivers.

“I was in a trance, [Eva] could have played for five hours, [she] could have played for years and I would have withered away without noticing.”

About [LONG FORM]

Born and raised in rural Western Massachusetts, Eva Markham has been writing, singing, and performing for as long as she’s been able—for the trees, for the birds, for the wind. Moving and being moved—that’s Eva Markham’s M.O..

With a voice like a well-rosined bow on a well-loved viola, and lyrics that capture and prod at the supposedly ineffable, Eva Markham has been called “the Joni Mitchell of our generation.” but the 23-year-old is not easily daunted, honoring those

who have gone before her, while diverging to forge her own distinct path onward. Markham possesses a striking integrity and intensity which imbue each song and performance with compelling rawness. One cannot help but feel the words she sings so sincerely; Markham’s music offers listeners an opportunity to better understand themselves and the world around them, and invites each of us to explore our alive-ness with loving attention and curiosity. This kind of writing tugs at people from all walks of life, and leaves them saying “I didn’t know anyone else felt like that;” “I never knew how to put it into words.” With a knack for cultivating a small and mighty following, Eva has gathered loving and devoted listeners across the US and UK.

A seasoned spell-caster, Eva will capture your heart, slow your breath, and hold time still, quivering.

“Eva Markham … is an example of a performer who has something truly special to offer her audience - something, maybe, we didn't even know we needed.” - Marigold Theater.
